I Care You're There

I'm not real big on awards, praise and recognition. Those things are nice, I suppose, and may help your paintings fetch a few more coins, but I'd rather have a pizza. Awards and praise, I've found, can be like little goblins, nibbling away at the pillars of your humility. I do, however, enjoy nice comments on my blog..they delight and encourage me, and inspire me to do more than I thought I could...and have fun along the way.

I like to go "blog hopping" and see what new masterpieces are posted and what people are saying. It's like stepping into a new world each day and seeing that the Creator was gracious enough to change the scenery. When I do my visiting, I usually find that a few regular "Blog Amigos" have already made the scene. I'm tickled purple to see that others have taken the time and effort to visit and comment. That is sharing.

There has been a lot of "Awards" and tagging going around...and that's all well and good. But the importance of COMMENTS got me to thinking. Usually, when I think, I fall asleep..but not so this time. I have created a new "thingie" called "I CARE YOU'RE THERE", that I hope has enough hot air to float. It's not an award, but rather a "keepsake". I created a poem (Below) that accompanies the logo.

I had some folks come visit, my humble little blog
And leave a thoughtful comment, 'bout the painting I had logged.

I don't know how to tell them, or even where to start,
Of the wondrous gift they gave me, bringing joy to my heart

Some days are dark and lonely...I feel that life's a bore
But those simple words of kindness, have brought sunshine to my door.

The rules are simple...if this keepsake gets passed to you...select two (2) blogger artists you admire and feel that they care...write a short bit about them and their site, link em, attach the Logo (and the poem, hopefully) and pass it on to them to do likewise. 2 to 2 to 2. I have chosen the first two recipients as Sheila Tajima and Edward Burton. (Tough decision)

Edward Burton
The artwork from Ed's palette is in a league of its own. He handles color, detail and compositional quality as if he was born with a brush in his hand. I study his works to see if I can gain some pointers. But beyond his talent, lies a deep sense of humanity that shows not only in his art, but in his blog commentary and the sparkling bits of encouragement he leaves in his comments. Ed genuinely cares. I've never met him. but pray that I will one day. Despite that, I feel like he's a friend I've known for years.

Sheila Tajima
If there is someone out there who doesn't know Sheila, I have just one thing to say to them....Man, where you been? Sheila is the only person I know that can tour the Blogworld leaving 500 comments a day, take care of her family, and still have time to turn out some super-duper artwork. If I tried to do that, you wouldn't be reading this, cause I'd be pushing up daisies. And on top of that she is an animal lover that translates love into action by her charity work. Her forensic background is amazing and I could go on and on but click her name and see for yourself. One word of warning I have for Sheila is that she had better hide if I ever see her, unless she wants a big sloppy kiss and a hug.

  1. This is Pokey, my masterbuddy's dog. You people call him James, but I call him "Stinkyfeet". I'm writing cause Stinkyfeet is passed on the floor from all the nice comments you all left him on the last blog. You humans are weird. You seem to like nice words...I'd rather have a hambone...pOKEY

  2. Hey Pokey, I hope you know the Heimlich manuever because I'm choking on a bite of burrito I was eating while I was reading your Masterbuddy's post. wait.... *cough* Okay, I just slammed against the back of my chair and am alright for now. Pokey you and Taco Belle have to give Jim a big sloppy, slurpy kiss of thanks for me 'cause I don't have a passport to do it myself.

  12. Pokey here. Stinkyfeet just got up off the floor, went over and got a cup of coffee and read all the comments you guys sent him. Now he's over there at the table just sitting and grinning like a complete idiot. What's up with you humans and words? And where's my hambone?

  13. Hi James, or Pokey, whoever happens to be at the wheel at the moment - mmm pizza!!! These are two very deserving artists! I hope Sheila doesn't sue you for causing her to choke, maybe it is a good thing you left highly litigious Texas for the balmy jungles of south america...
Can't wait to see what is up on party day!
